Review of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Walt Disney World has so many great resort options and you can't go wrong regardless of which resort you choose; each property stands out for their own reason.

Recently, my children and I stayed at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House and boy were we pleased! The pictures and videos I saw online prior to my stay did this resort no justice. From the lobby, pools, restaurants and room décor I could feel the Western African culture Disney used as inspiration when designing this resort.

After traveling all morning, our stomachs were growling so our first stop was to Boma - Flavors of Africa for breakfast. Boma is a family style buffet that offers a mixture of traditional American and African cuisine. Their signature Jungle Juice that is a blend of orange, passion fruit and guava juices was simply delicious. The coconut steel-cut oatmeal was my personal favorite. My children really enjoyed the Mickey Mouse shaped waffles and chocolate chip pancakes. Not to mention there is an endless supply of pastries and finger-licking, mouth watering desserts.

The cost for my family of 4 was $145.88 before gratuity. Children up to 9 years of age are $21.00 per child; while 10 and up (including adults) are $35.00 per person. Definitely on the pricier side, but we were all stuffed, happy and beyond satisfied with the services so it was worth every penny. We ended up going back for breakfast on our last day.

After our bellies were full we were ready to checkout our room. No longer do you have to stop at the front desk for check-in, you are able to check-in on the Walt Disney World app. I received a notification that my room was now ready and used my cellphone to unlock the door. We had a standard size savanna room overlooking the Arusha Savanna. This view was breathtaking to wake-up every morning to.

Our room consistent of two queen sized beds, sliding door closet, mini fridge, two dressers, small table and chair set and six charging stations. Minnie Mouse ears do not come with the room :)

After a quick nap, we headed down to the Uzima Springs Pool. The kids got to enjoy two-hours of pool play and water activities while I enjoyed pina coladas from the bar. Pool lounge chairs are limited. If you plan on spending your day at the pool, I highly recommend getting there by 10am when it opens to secure your lounge chair.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is the furthest Disney World resort and only offers bus shuttles for transportation. Also, the halls are extremely long, so be prepared to walk! Before your stay ends you must try Zebra Domes from The Mara, you won't regret this adult treat! We only spent one full day on property, the rest of our days were spent at the theme parks. I recommend spending at least two full days at the resort to experience all it has to offer.

In closing, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort and ranges from $460.00 to $1,200.00 a night based on room view, size and time of year. This property is definitely a once in a lifetime experience that will leave you speechless and mesmerize. An additional perk of staying at a Walt Disney World deluxe resort, guest receive early park entry and extended evening hours on select nights at selected parks.
